Overnight Baked Creme Brulee French Toast

This overnight baked crème brulee french toast is amped up to 11 on the brunch scale. Make this the night before, and have for brunch. It’s caramelized brown sugar, and Grand Marnier fancy. I am also including a recipe for some yummy Grand Marnier whipped cream to top it with! Serve with some bacon, mimosas, and call it a done deal.

FRENCH TOAST

1 cup light brown sugar
1 stick unsalted butter
2 T corn syrup
8 inch loaf of sturdy bread cut into slices and halved (I used country bread. Challah is excellent for this)
5 large eggs, lightly beaten
1 1/4 cups half and half
2 tsp Grand Marnier
1 tsp vanilla
pinch of salt

Optional toppings (toasted almonds, fresh fruit, jam)

Butter a 9×13 baking dish

In a saucepan, melt sugar, butter, and corn syrup over medium heat, stirring until smooth. Pour in bottom of the baking dish
Place bread in baking dish over butter mixture and space to fit.

Whisk remaining ingredients in a medium sized bowl and pour evenly over bread. Let sit overnight in the fridge covered with foil.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees, flip bread over to cover the other side, and let french toast sit on counter while you wait. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.

GRAND MARNIER WHIPPED CREAM

1 cup heavy whipping cream
2 tsp grand marnier
1 tsp vanilla

Whip all ingredients together until it forms medium peak either in a stand mixer with whisk attachment or handheld mixer. Keep in fridge while you let french toast cool down to room temp, about 15 minutes

Serve and let the oohs and ahhs begin.
