Mulled apple cider is like a welcoming hug to fall. It’s warm and cozy, can be a bit boozy (just add a cup of rum to 2 quarts of cider with the other ingredients to make your bonfire even cozier) and can make any afternoon or evening just that much tastier. This will give you quite a bit of mulled cider, so invite some friends over and enjoy it with some candy corn or a big slice of pie.
2 quarts apple cider (you can make your own or use your favorite brand. I went with Whole Foods)
2 cinnamon sticks
3 slices of orange zest
1 tsp ground cloves
1½ tsp allspice
*Add cranberries, star anise, or nutmeg for extra zing
Add all ingredients to a large saucepan, bringing to a boil on medium high heat, let boil for about 5 minutes
Cover and let steep off the heat for 30 minutes
Strain into a big pitcher and serve with extra cinnamon sticks and more orange zest
I love a mulled apple cider this year. Yours looks so warm and inviting.
There is nothing like mulled cider in the fall! Now that you have it on my mind, I wish I had some. Tomorrow is going to be rainy and damp too…
Looks excellent; and perfect for fall!
I’ve managed to pick up a bit of a nasty cold and I’m sitting here thinking your Mulled Cider would be just the thing to make me feel a lot better! It looks gorgeous, Janelle!
Thanks April and I hope you feel better soon!
Just picked up two containers of apple cider at the farmers market and now I think I know their destiny. I’m definitely opting for the boozy version!
boozy is a good option!
YES!
I love that this doesn’t have to be boozy to be delicious! It looks so good! I love the photo too
Hey, have you thought about using a plugin for displaying your recipes? It makes them google search-able. I use Easy Recipe Plus. Anyway, just thought you might want to know
Thank you!
I am actually going back through and use Easy Recipe, I haven’t reached them all yet-but thanks for the heads up! I didn’t realize there was a plus. I do want to be on the Google
