*This is a local review and post that I did thanks to Gigi’s cupcakes being so kind at taking me up on my offer to try out their cupcakes. While I was given some complimentary cupcakes during my visit there, all opinions are mine based on my experience with this bakery.
When you first walk into Gigi’s you can’t help but have a smile on your face. The walls are filled with color and pretty pictures, the glass cases filled with goodies greets you upon arrival, and the smell of freshly baked cupcakes hits you in a soft, warm inviting way. Suzanne the owner is seriously the cutest darn thing I have ever seen in a bakery. She smiles widely as she proudly talks about her cupcakes, her staff, the flavors and hard work that go into each and every cupcake that Gigi’s has to offer. And is there a variety! I went on a Monday evening, and you can tell that people come back and back for more, as many of the cupcakes were already sold in their bright and sturdy boxes. Suzanne showed up a menu which includes all their cupcakes, from the daily flavors to the wide variety and assortment of tasty goodness that you can order and enjoy.
I brought a few friends along, and we all couldn’t get over how cute this bakery was. In the West part of Omaha, in the busy Village Pointe Shopping center, Gigi’s has carved out a name for itself, rightly so. You aren’t getting a boxed cupcake with some artificial flavoring, dry or overly sweet. You are getting strawberry shortcake, with a deep and authentic strawberry flavor, topped with a not too sweet strawberry frosting (made with the juice so it’s a beautiful pink shade) and dusted with red sanding sugar which gives you just the right amount of crunch with your dessert.
There is also the triple chocolate torte, with the texture of a fudge brownie, deep in chocolate flavor, where I could taste the quality cocoa, and the amazingly swirled chocolate ganache that adorns the top.
We tried an amazing carrot cake, which for me is a first because I am not usually a fan of carrot cake. It has shredded carrots, along with walnuts, for a lovely blend of cake and carrots. The cream cheese frosting is not your normal frosting, it is whipped like buttercream for a soft and light blend. Topped with green sanding sugar and the cutest little carrot buttercream on top, it’s so worth to give this cupcake a go.
For those of you who like cheesecake, the lemon cheesecake cupcake is right up your alley. Filled with a bright and tasty lemon curd, it’s surrounded by a graham cracker crust that is light and filling, and makes you want a second and third bit. I am not a cheesecake fan, but I would order this again in a heartbeat.
Last but not least, we had my favorite, the wedding cake cupcake. A delicious and moist white cake, topped with white buttercream and sugar parariels, this is the cupcake that takes the cake, literally. You get a signature twirl of frosting on top, and it does in fact look like a mini cake you would see at a wedding. As a pastry chef, I have had a lot of bad cupcakes, and at Gigi’s nothing was short of divine and delicious.
For those of you who need or eat gluten free- Gigi’s has 3 flavors a day for you! They are in a dark wrapper so they are easy to find and easy to choose. Well not so easy to choose a flavor, because they are all the bee’s knees!

Yes, I am the lady at the counter! I was in on the taste testing and it was amazing. I returned to the counter twice in that visit to make selections to take home. My husband devoured 2 cupcakes and my grand kids devoured the chocolate chip cookie filled with cookie dough frosting. Room was filled with Yummmmmm… no words were spoke till every crumb was gone!
